Jerash

One of the things to see in Jordan is Jerash.  This an ancient city that dates back to around 3200BC, but the main thing to see is the Roman ruins.  They even use the hippodrome to have a chariot race show a couple of times a day.  We took the kids there and it was cool - they got to actually run  around, climb, and play on the stones.  A fun day for all.  Here are some pictures.

Jordan at last

So while most of you know we have moved from Thailand and are now in Jordan, we have not done well getting photos on the blog - sorry about that.

Anyway - so far Jordan is great.  We have a terrific apartment.  It is on the ground floor, which means we have our own private entrance and a yard.  The yard has some very cushy grass that wraps around the outside of the apartment.  There is a chain link fence, but it is covered in ivy so you cannot tell.  We have four bedrooms plus a very large dining room with a sitting area  as well as a living room with fireplace and of course a kitchen.  There are four bathrooms.  We are very close to the embassy.  The embassy community is very friendly and they have a good playground and big pool.  Usually there is a community event at least once a week (tex-mex night, steak night, etc.) which is fun.  There are so many families with children at the embassy so the kids have lots of friends.

Bryce is in school and is loving it.  He was at first very ambivalent, but them he settled in and found his groove.  In the morning when we drop him off, we are lucky to get a bye mom/bye dad before he is off and doing his thing. Aressa is making friends (going to play dates and play groups).

We still have our old phone number (301-500-2155).  We are seven hours ahead of the east coast and eleven ahead of the west coast (currently with daylight saving time in US).  Like in Thailand we have two address (one for APO/DPO  and one for the pouch system).  Unlike Thailand, the mail is very very slow.

Our DPO address is:
Unit 6050
Box 343
DPO, AE 09892-0343

Our pouch address is:
6050 Amman Place
Dulles, VA, 20189-6050

And fnally for the kids - DISNEYLAND

At the end of our China trip we decided that we were going to do something for the kids - so we went to Hong Kong. the idea was to go Disneyland.  I suggested that we go to Victoria Peak and see the night time light show on the buildings and see the panoramic views of Hong Kong.  Of course we could not control the weather so instead of beautiful expansive views we got the fog in view.  Disneyland was great, the lines were short, the rain intermittent, the fun level was off the charts.
Here are some pictures...
