China - Beijing Zoo and Summer Palace...

When you go to China with a four year old you gotta see pandas.  You can fly to Chengdu (about 4 hours from Beijing) or go to the zoo.  We choose the zoo route.  So here are some pictures of the zoo. We also went to the summer palace and on the way to the airport we drove by the bird's nest.

Also as we were leaving Beijing on this day the night before we out to a have Peking duck.  Bryce really loves duck, but is not so thrilled with eating duck brains (can you blame him?).  We decided to included in dessert afterward (one of the more interesting ones we've ever had).  You can see a video of it below.

Yes this is a marble boat (go figure)

Our interesting dessert (appropriately named the "Chocolate Land Mine")

China - The Great Wall

While in China you of course have to make a trip out to the Great Wall.  We choose to go to the Mutianyu section as this is less touristy than some of the other sections.  It also butts up to the wild wall (which is the wall as is - no maintenance) and while we did not hike this, we were interested in seeing this.  I will say this .. no matter how big (or steep) you heard it it, seeing really is believing. Wow!

Anyway here are some pictures...

China - Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City

We decided that before we left Thailand we were going to go to China.  Since Songkran is a very interesting and WET time here is Thailand we (like many others) decided that we were going to get away from Thailand over this time.  On our first day in China we went to Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the temple of heaven.

Here are some pictures....
