Crusing the Sounds ...

On the sound island of New Zealand, there are many inlets or sounds. Three of the most popular ones are Milford, Doubtful, and Dusky. Milford Sound is known for the waterfalls and as you can see in the pictures it is foggy and raining something like 300+ days a year. We got there in the early morning (5am, sunrise was at 7am). It was cold, rainy and windy, but well worth getting up as the pictures do not do the scenes justice.

After Milford, we went into Doubtful Sound. The weather was getting better as the rain stopped, but it was still a bit windy and cool.

Finally in the later afternoon, we entered Dusky Sound. The weather was getting warmer, we saw a school of about 12 to 15 dolphins, and even saw hare rock.

While we did not get off the boat, the day was well spent, absorbing the beauty of mother nature.
